I’m not sure if this started with iOS 26 or not, but…
I have a photo shuffle set for my lock screen. For quite some time it has been set to show my two kids and my dogs. Now, it only shows one of my kids and one of my dogs. When I try to edit the people in settings, my son doesn’t even show up as an option anymore. And only my old dog shows up in the shuffle, no pictures of my new dog. I’ve seen some Reddit threads for this happening on previous iOS versions. Does anyone know of a solution? I’ve tried creating new wallpapers but I get the same result.

I’m seeing something that might be similar, at the risk of hijacking the thread. Maybe this is from the same issue?

I’ve got a lock screen shuffle using an album I’ve created for the purpose. After a certain point, some later photos I’ve added will show up in the shuffle (and in the preview function within the editor) but some will not. I understand the limit is 50, but im way below that. I don’t see any indication of why any given photo might be kept out of the rotation. Anyone have any wisdom on this?

I have a similar issue. I have set up photo shuffle, bit I have used an album of 500 pictures. The same pictures keep showing up all the time. I wasn't aware there was a limit of 50 photos if an album is used. Is that the case?

There has always been a 50-photo limit, and it applies to using an album. I have seen one source that suggests that if you choose them manually instead of pointing at an album, you can select more than 50. However this not how it was in previous iOS versions: it wouldn’t let you select manually more than 50. I have not tested this.

There is a workaround using a Shortcut evidently. It can change your lock screen photo once an hour, with no functional limit. I like that with the baked-in photo shuffle, though, that I can customize the display of the clock uniquely for each photo. I’ve only played. Around with size and layering, don’t know if I can customize font and format.

Thanks, I missed that information. I suppose I will need to make a new album with just 50 pictures in it, then.
