Lock Screen: Why loss of WiFi/ Internet?

Hi there

I have a brand new MBP 15'' retina with latest Mavericks 10.9.2 and in my energy settings I got both on plug + battery to never shut down disks when locking screen or screensaver.

However I notice that the wifi/ internet loses connection when I lock the screen via keychain screen lock in menu bar.

This didn't happen to me before in Snow Leopard.

Any idea how to prevent this from happening?
