I have a 24" iMac that has been having problems so I took it into Apple today to have it looked at. It was operating fine when I shut it down to leave and wouldn't boot when I arrived. I had recently made a TM backup of it. They were able to boot it off a HD boot volume but not the internal. When I connected my backup to their MacBook Pro it check it, the 2 internal drives in the case mounted but with locked icons and none of the Apple Geniuses could figure out why it was doing that. I have brought home the iMac because they are convinced it is a failing HDD but when I try to mount the external drives to my MacBook, they both show up with locked drives and I am trying to figure out how to gain access to the files. I am also trying to troubleshoot my iMac. Anyone that can help me out, that would be great. Especially if you know any terminal commands that might repair permissions and/or fix access privileges.

Thank you.
