Sarcasmville.
I can't remember why I did this in the first place, but I locked my ext. HDD (using the Info window) using an old computer. The little padlock icon on the bottom left is there, but there 'Locked' checkbox in the info window is either greyed out or not there at all.

How do I unlock the HD so I can modify the root directory of the HDD? I've tried using terminal but I usually don't mess around with it too much.

The lock feature is not user dependant is it? As in, it doesn't matter who locks it?

Thanks

I wonder if you can do it from the "root" user account? I would try that. Just DO NOT forget to disable root when you're done. Thats a HUGE security risk by leaving the "root" user account enabled.
