Two hours, twice with Apple Support...press this, that....
Finally, spinning globe trying to install High Sierra with greed out hard drive and message, "this disc is locked".
This would be after support told me the only way to get out of a loop to reinstall was to erase my hard drive.
How did this happen? Friday they asked me to make sure my cc was updated for ICloud. Seemed strange as I buy things with my Apple ID all the time, but I did (pfishing scheme?) All of a sudden it locked and wanted codes, which I never created.
It is "vintage" says Apple, Apple code for old. 2012 MacBook Pro. No problems until now.
Any help would be fabulous! As a special education aide money is right. Thank you!!!!

Sounds like ransomware....

If so, I am sure there are some posts around here that can help.
