I'm curious as to how many people want Apple to make an unlocked iPhone for anybody with a GSM provider.

Edit: When I say unlocked, I mean SIM card unlocked. You can put any SIm card you want

Doesnt matter how many people want it. Its not going to happen for a while yet!

I'm hoping for an option, the subsidized price can be exclusive to ATT, but you have a choice and must pay extra for an unlocked one.

i personally dont see it happening myself.

Just because companies like AT&T and 02 have won the iPhone contracts and paid a lot in advertising. So i doubt Apple will stab them in the back and release an unlocked version.

Don't think an unlocked phone would be sold by Apple right now.

Apple never reduced the price of the iPhone, there is a subsidy resulting in the current price.

If there was a legitimate unlocked iPhone the price may be near $1k, though likely we won't see a locked phone at the unsubsidized price during the AT&T exclusivity period.
