I was online looking at forums discussing how to force the iphone to stay on 3G instead of dropping to Edge. Most of the instructions deal with changing some settings in csidata.
The changes are made to the lines that say GSMregistrationmodule fRatSelection.
What I am writing to ask about is another setting in that same area of csidata.
It says
Capabilities::SimCallandDataSupported=0x1
MaxDataRateManager::Enable3G=0x1
Capabilites::SimCallandDataCurrentlySupported=0x0
The first line I assume is simply whether or not mobile data is activated, I assume 0 is no and 1 is yes.
The second line has to do with how the phone selects a data network. 0 is Edge only, 1 is 3G if available or Edge if not, and 2 is 3G only.
It's the third line I am curious about. I see in other places on the web people have it set to 1. Mine is set to 0, I did not change it manually. That indicates to me a "no" to data being currently supported. Interestingly enough, I have very bad and sometimes no data service in spite of it being included in my cell plan.
So my question really is, this setting being 0, can that be effecting my mobile data in spite of line #1 being set to 1? And if I change this manually and reboot, is there a risk of bricking my phone?
Iphone 3gs, iOS 6.1.3, carrier is GoSmart by T-Mobile.
Thanks in advance.
