Is there a way to password protect individual documents and/or folders on mac os x snow leopard? Thats free? Thanks.
 
- what do you mean it didn't work? Lots of people use that technique.

The password protected dmg option is the only way. You can't password protect single files.

ah, thanks for the help. i just couldn't get it to work. i opened the .dmg no problem w/o a password even though i set one and followed the instructions, however, i found an app called lamesecure that does the job pretty well. there are back doors that i have found, but the average user's not gonna tamper with it once the authorization box comes up.
