I accidentally renamed my "home" user ID account and in doing so, appeared to have lost all my preferences. The preferences were actually saved (except itunes playlists??) and residing under a new user account which I found in FINDER>HD>USERS folder. I have now followed Mac directions to rename the original home user ID back to what it should be, and my preferences appear to have transferred back to that, the "home" user account ID as well... now the directions say to LOG OUT THEN IN AGAIN WITH THE AFFECTED USER ACCOUNT
How do I do this?
If I am unsuccessful, and the preferences revert to residing with the new user ID, is it a problem to just use the new user ID instead of the old, "home" user ID?
