Logged in on computer without using a password

So I opened the computer lid and realised when I was about to type in my password that I wantd to shut down my computer so I hit the x in the circle on the screen to see if I got to a menu where I could shut it down but it went in to sleepmode again so I hit the keyboard with my hand to make it exit sleepmode but to my surprise when the screen lit up it was logged in.

mid 2012 13" 10.9.4
