Hello!
Since the iPad Pro was unveiled, I was torn about the available keyboards that took advantage of the Smart Connector. I liked Apple's offering in that it was light and portable, but I wanted full case coverage and didn't want to have to buy an Apple silicone back to fit with the Smart Keyboard. The lack of function keys also concerned me. I also appreciated the Logi Create Case and its deeper travel and backlit keys, but loathed its bulk and difficulty in removing the iPad from the case. Hearing reports that the case scratched the display glass of the iPad was the last nail in the coffin. Both keyboards suffered from the fact that I had to be married to it, as leaving the keyboard behind would have required putting on a different case, complicating the whole notion. I wanted to be able to use my cheap Smart Cover clone but be able to use a Smart Connector enabled keyboard on the fly. I hoped that someone would make a keyboard akin to the Microsoft Type cover: a simple, flat keyboard that attached via the hardware connector without providing vertical support.
So what did I end up doing? I bought an open box Logi Create Case and removed the top half. It's not pretty, but boy does it work a treat for my situation. Best thing is the magnets are strong enough that I can carry the pair by grabbing the keyboard or the iPad alone.
