Logic Big Box 5.5.1 upgrade to Logic Express 7?

I tried searching for info. on MR and OSXaudio, but I can't find the answer:

If I have the Logic Audio Big Box 5.5.1, can I get by with the upgrade version of Logic Express 7? I just called Apple and they said "no", but I have heard that it does work.
