Apple wants a lot of $ to repair, so that is going to have to wait. I need to get some crucial school work that I have not yet backed up off of the computer.
Can I remove the drive and use something like this?

The MacBook is running 10.6 and my iMac is running 10.8.
If it is not possible, please tell me what I can do to get the files off of the HDD.
