Our Mac Book Pro recently faild to boot up - it got stuck on the 'egg timer' and after a couple of minutes blanked out. The computer still had lights lit on it but nothing on the display.

I've read about possible graphics card problems but the Apple Store diagnosed the problem (somewhat generalistically) to the logic board and said it would need replacing at a cost of c. £350 but that we wouldn't be charged if that didn't solve the problem.

Is this likely to be the logic board or something more specific? Possibly the graphics card?

The computer is about 4 years old and I would have hoped for greater longevity from an Apple product - my PC has been running without problems for 10 years!.
