I went to the Apple Store yesterday because my USB ports were WAY too flimsy, plugs would easily slip out with my effort at all. The Genius told me that the logic board needed to be replaced and since I was under warranty til 2011, it was free. Now I heard that when newer models came out, I can get my logic board upgraded to match current specs. I got my MBP in March 2010, is there a chance I can get the low end processor? I have a 2.26GHZ btw and the low end now is 2.4GHz.

Usually you are only eligible for an upgrade if your entire machine is being replaced. They've got plenty of spare logic boards with the exact same spec that your machine came with.

ah ok i see. also when I boot my mac it hangs on the white screen for like 20 seconds and then the apple logo shows for 20 seconds and then I get to my desktop. What is going on? Is this due to the logic board?

When I boot my PC it hangs on the Windows logo for 40 seconds.

No free upgrades. You will get the same specs as you originally paid for.
