Completely random question but I’ve always wondered why the logic board in the air is so much smaller than the pro. I appreciate the pro has a better processor and proper cooling but that shouldn’t dictate the size of logic board. Looking at the tear downs it seems to have similar chips, T2, SSD, RAM etc so any thoughts would be good.

Of course it would. The logic board has to supply more current to a 28W processor compared to 9W for the Air. This means more VRM components required - chokes and MOSFET drivers.

In addition, the Pro has twice the amount of space on the logic board for NAND. With 4 ports, the Pro also needs two USB-C port controllers.
