Logic Express ease of use?

I'm wondering if there are any Logic Express users out there that can attest to it's ease of use. I've looked into Digital Performer and it confuses me, and it's more power than I need. I just need something where I can lay down audio/midi, and do some effects. And Garageband is way too limiting. Thanks in advance.
