Logic pro 7

i am currently having a problem, my audio files are not being saved, so every time i go back they are gone, and wheni try to record it says system too slow, or sometimes system overload.......what the hell am i doing. Would it be because of a setting on my interface, its a motu 828mkII.....i havent really messed with the settings though, and i restart my computer, and still i get the same error message
