Login Problem after Sleep

I encountered the following problem:
After going to sleep or screensaver mode, I am prompted to type in my password but the computer does not accept it. I have to shut down the computer, start it back up, and then I can punch in the password again and it works. Does anyone know about this bug?

What Mac model and Mac OS X version do you have.

Have you taken a look at System Preferences > Security?

Have you tried repairing permissions via Disk Utility?

Since when does the issue occur?
