Login problem

I have a Macbook pro 2011 with OS snow leopard. Currently I can login to guest, but I cannot login to the main account because it freezes. Any and all help is appreciated because I have school work that's due this week!

Try booting into safe mode and disconnect all peripherals. This will disable all login items so it might help you narrow down what the problem is.

Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal.
