Login Windows Freeze

I have my MacBook Pro set to go to screen saver after 5 minutes of inactivity and to require a password to "get back in" when I get back. Every once in a while (maybe once or twice a week) I come back and the dialog box doesn't come up, but just a beach ball as if the loginwindow.app froze or something like that. Is there anything I can do or is anyone else experiencing the issue?
