Hello! So my trackpad hasn't been able to click for a while, so I've been using a wireless mouse instead, which was fine. However, I recently enabled tap-clicking or whatever it's called, so I've been using that instead of the mouse. Which caused me to get lazy and misplace it! Anyway, I made a second account on the computer last night for my sister to use, while we're on vacation, but when I turned the computer on this morning, apparently you MUST have a mouse or a fully functioning trackpad to select the user.

I have so much work I need to do this weekend, and I'm away--not near a mac store or anything. There has to be a way to login without manually clicking on my account--a keyboard shortcut? Something? Anything! I've googled and it seems like some people can just hit tab and then select... that doesn't work for me. It's a macbook OS X if that helps.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

So there's no Target or Best Buy or Wal-Mart or grocery store nearby? They have USB mice at my local grocery store. Take a look.

This may be late for kristenmarie's immediate needs, but someone might this helpful (in addition to using any USB mouse as Detrius said.)

You can login (and many other things) using just the keyboard.
- on the Login Window (list of users) press the up/down arrows to highlight the user you want.
- press enter/return (if you select the wrong user just press the esc key).
- type your password and press enter/return again.

In Mavericks up/down arrows selection doesn't work right after boot. To select user in this case press first letter of his/her name. Once any user is highlighted arrows will work as expected.

This looks like bug - when I go to login screen from already logged user it works fine.
