I run a Windows 2003 Server with Active directory. But when i try and access a share Samba gives me an error code 5000. So what i did was ghosted the server and took off Active directory and i could login to shares.

Anyone got a sugestion for loging into my shares with my iBook while keeping Active Directory on there (i need it for exchange).

I have not done this personally, but I remember seeing some sites that explain how to access MS shares via AD. IIRC, there is something in the support area on Apple's site.

samba 2.2.x is incompatible with active directory

(fastest link I could find, its on samba.org somewhere)

There is a way to get around it though. Enable NT4.0 PDC services on the ADS server, and then edit your smb.conf file to allow authentication through the PDC (type "man smb.conf" in terminal to read how to do that)
