This seems to be happening quite a lot,
The computer appears to be functioning correctly, but certain things don't work. e.g. About This Mac.

If I look in the Activity Monitor the process:
loginwindow (Not Responding)
is shown.

If I try to force quit the process, it warns me that it will log me out. However it just freezes the computer.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

The problem occurs with the new user account, though I notice that "rcd (Not Responding)" has appeared as well.

It also occurs in my admin account.

It takes a while for loginwindow to become "Not responding", and I can't work out what is causing it.

Okay, thanks for that. Try dragging a file named com.apple.loginwindow.plist to the Desktop. Now, it'll be in the Preferences folder for OSX. There'll be a similarly named file in your Home folder's Preferences folder, but don't worry about that one. :)

Well I've been running a few programs and loginwindow is ok so far, though I'll keep an eye on it as sometimes it seems to take a few days to go wrong.

Thanks for the help.
