Have there been any firmware updates that addressed the overheating issue? I asked Logitech support and they did that stupid thing where they act like they’ve never heard of the overheating problem.

Yes, according to YouTube videos I’ve watched regarding the doorbell, Logitech have released a number of fixes which do include the overheating issue but mixed results for many people.

I wonder if this is why it’s still not available in the UK because they can’t sort out the heating issue.

Cool thank you. Maybe it’s time to give it a try.

Depending on where you are and assuming you don’t get incredibly hot sun on the location of the doorbell I think you’ll be okay.

The overheating problems tend to be due to direct sunlight exposure. I would not recommend installing this unless you have a covered entry way. In general, all of these things will be prone to overheating but it is specific environment considerations one must make when installing outdoor IT equipment.

I’m in the Deep South, so I made sure that outdoor security cameras (each Logitech Circle View at this time because I do not have the house wired with PoE yet) are shaded. The Logitech Circle View Doorbell is installed in a covered entry way. The entrance is north facing so the precession of the sun will never quite get to an angle that will directly expose the front yard’s security camera or door bell. The backyard security camera is covered by a deck.

I‘m watching this closely though because I will be going through my first Summer on this property. The trend for Circle View Doorbell overheating issues tends to be the combo of sheer front entrance and orientation that is not ideal for limiting direct sunlight exposure. Understand, the material in the security cameras and doorbell box mention direct sunlight exposure as a location consideration.

I work with some infrastructure that has a lot of outdoor surveillance camera installations and it is hard to keep these things up even if you’re spending thousands of dollars per camera. It is hell on tech “out there.”
