I've noticed that on my parents' 13" MacBook Pro their Logitech Marathon Mouse (it's wireless) is now waking the computer from sleep when it should not. Simply moving the mouse along the desk surface (not clicking any buttons) wakes the computer. The MacBook Pro is in a spot where the desk often gets hit by the dog or vibrations from the coffee maker and such which causes tiny mouse movements which are now causing the MBP to wake inappropriately. It happens with the both the lid closed or the lid open.
I thought it was a power issue with the MBP so i reset the SMC but it had no effect. I then took the mouse and plugged it into my 15" MBP and it behaved the same way -- waking my MBP by just moving the mouse along my desk.
I have a logitech MX 518 corded mouse that I use on my computer to play games and it behaves normally -- only waking my Mac when I click a button, not just moving it along the desk. The MX 518 when plugged into the 13" macbook pro also behaves normally.
So it's narrowed down to the Marathon Mouse itself, but how do I fix it? We've had the mouse for two months and it has never been an issue. I tried turning it off then back on and also removing the batteries but it is still waking the Mac from sleep by just moving the cursor.
Any ideas? Just a bad mouse?
