Hi guys,

I am looking for a good mouse for my MB Pro M1 16/512.
I like the MX Master 3, but I can see that there are a lot of problems with this mouse on the M1 chip.
Is there still a lag on Bluetooth? Maybe an update to Monterey helped with that case?
Do you guys recommend buying this one?
If yes, what version for Mac or uni?
Unfortunately, the Magic Mouse from Apple is so uncomfortable for me.
Thanks!

I bought and returned one recently. Don't remember any issues with Bluetooth, it's not amazing compared to using the dongle but usable. However coming from the original MX Master, I did not like the scroll wheel (the rachet was too soft, not as accurate) and the ergonomics (wrist pain). Got a 2S instead. These issues are pretty well documented, subjective however so you may be perfectly happy with it.

Are you using 2S with a dongle or only via BT?

Dongle, Bluetooth is noticeably worse on all the MX Master versions. I only use my mouse when I am at the desk so I leave the dongle with my dock. I don't think the Bt is worse on the MX Masters, I've tried others and may just be Bt in general.

So buying the Mac version is pointless atm..
Do you know if they are some differences between these two mouses? I mean uni version vs Mac

Color, usb c vs a cable, and doesn't come with dongle.

Mac version is functionally identical to the normal version, minus the useful Unifying (consumer) or Bolt dongle (business)!

Given that I use M1 mini and M1 Air docked mostly, I bought a few Bolt dongles and the MX Master 3 for Business, as well as an MX Keys Mini. For "travel", I use an MX Anywhere 3 on BT only, and it's pretty much fine now... BT mice on initial M1 release (the Mac mini for me, at that point) were fairly rough, but things are fairly stable now.

Been using these for years (seems to be the only mouse that fits my hand well and it's in use for 12+ hours a day)

Had all manner of stuttering with the M1 Mini, a little with the M1 Air but now the 14in M1 PRO has been perfect with BT.

Using with the dongle and Steermouse (not options) also worked perfectly with the previous machines.
Have the MX Keys keyboard via BT as well - no issues other than the occasional double capital letter if pressing shift - I must type that fast it doesnt have time to register the shift key has been released ;)

I have the MX Master 3 Mac version, without the USB dongle. Bluetooth only.

I had huge lag issues on my M1, on my 16inch M1 Pro it works perfectly.

(I had that lag every 9 seconds or so)

Do you have your M1 (2020) and can confirm that is still lagging?

I'm wondering if I should buy MX M3 or Apple TrackPad

I have the non-Mac version, because I wanted the receiver (although I ended up with an MX Keys as well, so that was moot in the end). Anyway, I generally use it with the dongle and with that, it works fine.

On my occasional Bluetooth use, I do sometimes notice a bit of lag with it. But actually nowhere near what I expected from the experiences some other unfortunate souls are having.

My one big complaint with it would actually be that the L/R mouse buttons are far too sensitive for my liking. It takes almost no pressure to activate them. In the end I had to modify them to make them harder to press.

Overall I much prefer the Apple TrackPad, and use it significantly more these days than the MX. If it wasn’t for the need to share them with a Windows system, I honestly don’t think I’d have kept the MX 3.

Yep I have the two machines.

M1 still lags, though it's still on Big Sur.
M1 Pro no lag, though it's ofc on Monterey.

I bought an Apple trackpad too as MX was sooooo bad... (as you can see in my post history I have posted about this issue many times with my M1)... then just tried the MX on a whim after I got the new M1 Pro 16, and I haven't used the Trackpad since.

I picked up an M1 MBA last week simply as it was a great price. I have noticed immediately on Monterey that my MX Master 3 has been absolutely fine with Bluetooth only. Zero lag.

So it seems like Monterey fixed BT issue :D

I bought the PC version for use with my desktop PC and occasional use with my M1 MacBook Air. I use the dongle for the PC and BT for the MacBook. I've never had any problems with lag with Big Sur and now Monterey. Just got lucky in the silicon lottery I guess. HTH

I'm on Monterey with the MX Master 3 for Mac with only Bluetooth and I didn't had any issues thus far on my 14" Pro. Did have tons of lag on my M1 Air though

I’ve had no problems with my MS bluetooth mouse on either my geriatric 2013 or my infant M1Pro. Pairs up beautifully, roller ball is nice action, just works. I have no love for MS, but the mouse just works.

No lags in the least amount.

I have Logitech MX Anywhere 3 - connected to unifying reciever in USB hub in Macbook Air M1, Big sur 11.6.1 and sometimes middle button doesn't work on safari (open in new tab) and after few seconds open e.g. 10 tabs. Does someone notice this issue ?

I'm experiencing some lag and decided to switch to the dongle, but how do you know whether it's connected to the dongle or just to the computer? When I unplug the dongle the connection doesn't drop so I think it's still connected to the computer.

Check bluetooth devices. It should appears there. Probably you didn't use a dongle.

I have had the MX Master 3 for almost a year, basically in the same time I got my M1 MacBook Air.

It's the normal model, and I use the dongle with my gaming PC and Bluetooth with the Mac.

It's true that when I got my M1 Mac, it was somewhat "laggy" and not pleasant.

However I don't remember when, but there was an update and it got solved. Right now it does work fine and smooth on my Mac.

I've been using MX Master 3 since it's release, first on my MacBook Pro 16", then on my MacBook Air M1, and now on MacBook Pro M1 Max. I haven't had a single issue so far, except for the first time setup.

There are occasionally firmware releases, try to stay as up to date as possible.

I’ve been using mine with the dongle. It’s ok, the cursor will occasionally move slower than when I set it up as and sometimes (especially after reboot) the thumb ‘gesture’ button doesn’t work. You have to wait some arbitrary amount of time before the button works again (5-10 minutes).

The mouse acceleration stuff was really disgusting and the Logi Options took used to counter acceleration but it looks like that feature stopped working. I had to install the LinearMouse program for Mac to fix the issue (it has to run all the time in the background). It’s not a streamlined experience like on Mojave. Apple must have screwed with how mice are handled in macOS 11/12 because tracking doesn’t feel as precise as it once did. I’ve gotten used to it now but overall it’s not perfect.
