Logitech MX1000 and OSX issues - not being detected

I have a Logitech MX1000 and whenever I close my computer and put it to sleep or when I unplug the usb after a trip to school, my computer fails to detect any Logitech Mouse after I reconnect it. And as a result, I lose all the mouse's functions that utilizes the side buttons and etc. Its been getting really annoying as of late.

Does anyone else have the issue/solution>?
