logon screen background image change in macbook air

Hi all,

I am a macbook newbie and I was trying to change the default background image on the logon screen, but unfortunately, the changes weren't reflected when I rebooted. I replaced the defaultdesktop image in the Core Services folder and authenticated the change. Any help on where I could have gone wrong or why the changes aren't reflected would be great.

You changed Mission Control's background, not the login window background.

These are the correct instructions.
