And now the guy has two forums laughing at him. What caught my eye is that this guy is a contributor to that forum. True, it's an iPhone-ccentric forum, but still...
 
There are people who don't know the difference. I didn't know the difference until about a year ago.

As far as I can tell, this is just someone who doesn't know a whole lot about computers, nothing wrong with asking a question like that.

I suppose Google-ing the answer himself, like any remotely intelligent non-Cro Magnon would, was too demanding of a task.

Glossy and matte surfaces existed long before the transistor age though.
 
I was chatting with one of the guys working in and Apple store a while back and he said he had a woman come in earlier that day asking what the difference was between a wired and wireless mouse.

I get this a lot, too, but for wired and wireless controllers for video game systems. It's depressing.
