Got a MBP recently, loving it. Completely.
But finder is driving me crazy, with a file name such as "Star Wars - Episode I - The Phantom Menace" displaying as "Star ...ace.avi".
(see attached image.) The only way to see the entire file name is to increase the icon size dramatically (see image #2), or to increase the grid spacing dramatically. In Windows, the next row is bumped down slightly by one row of text at a time to display the full file name, AND without displaying the file extension.
Is there anyway to enable such "smarter" handling of "long" file names in Finder as well as a global switch for disabling file extensions from being shown? (Note: For the second issue, toggling "Finder>Preferences>Advanced>Show all filename extensions" does NOT work, even for folders on the local hard drive, let alone my externals.
Thanks for the read and any help you can offer.
