I'll be getting my first iphone on friday, what is the most important app(s) you can't live without?

Please say what it does!

Facebook
Myspace
Palringo (Facebook + MSN messenger)
Jaadu VNC

Are ones used often, then have random selection of games to pass the time.

My favourites are:

Facebook app - access facebook on the go
Shazam - Identify any song you hear on the radio
Dictionary - basically an iphone version of dictionary.com - very useful

and my personal favourite (which is definitely worth the money)

MyPhone+ - which takes all your contacts from Facebook and attaches their pictures to their numbers on your iPhone - very useful and for me has been the most impressive as most names on my phone are saved as either 'Sarah S' or without a surname completely 'Sarah' - it asks you about any its unsure about - and takes about 5 mins to set up - definitely worth it!

shazam - like verizon's song ID, tells you what is playing
beejive - best IM app
tweetie - best twitter app
fandago
lose it - weight loss app
urbanspoon
whats on?
iphlix - netflix queue

Instapaper — offline reading of articles that I don't want to read right away, integrated with Instapaper online service
Wikipanion — best free Wikipedia browser
Klick — best Flickr app, free or otherwise
Birdfeed — best Twitter app, not released yet, will be available soon
Tumblr — official app to browse Tumblr dashboard and post to Tumblr blog
Ego — Twitter follower and website statistics
Movies Now! — wonderful movie showtime app

The ones I use the most are:

Google mobile (just say what you are searching for into your phone and it uses voice recognition to pull up search results - surprisingly accurate. Love it!)
Facebook
Remote (to control iTunes remotely on my computer)
The Weather Channel
Urbanspoon (for help with choosing restaurants)
i.TV (to use as my TV Guide)
iPhlix (to keep my Netflix queue up to date)
Typing Genius (I don't actually use this program, but I constantly use the emoticons that it enabled on my phone for emails)
Textfree (for free text messaging)
Aurora Feint II: The Beginning (my favorite game to pass the time)

Facebook
Myspace
Palringo (Facebook + MSN messenger)
Jaadu VNC

Jaadu VNC sounds really neat, how secure is it?

My most often used are:

Beejive
Twitterriffic Premium
Facebook
iPhlix
Wikipanion
ShoppingList
geoDefense
Peggle
USA Today Crosswords

Facebook
Myspace
Palringo (Facebook + MSN messenger)
Jaadu VNC

Maybe a stupid question...but:

Does your laptop/macbook have to be turned in order to use Jaadu? My computer is usually sleeping/shut off when Im not by it. Can I still connect to it remotely when its off?

Sportacular
Trism
Twitterfon
Pandora
AOL Radio
Urbanspoon for when I travel.

//No particular order

I use the radio/music apps a lot. Pandora and AllRadio get the most use, and I listen to XM/Sirius Satellite Radio on WunderRadio. SimplifyMedia is pretty amazing as it allows you to listen to your computer iTunes Library on your iPhone from anywhere.

Slingbox has become a staple--great for watching satellite TV anywhere in a wifi zone. StockWatch is the best portfolio monitor I've found, and CarStat keeps track of gasoline and other car-related expenses.

AIM did a good job of porting there software to the iPhone, and The Weather Channel, with its radar maps is my favorite for keeping me dry. I also love Truphone for cheap to free calls using wifi, especially for international calls. It's also a great minute saver for domestic calls to people you can tell to get on Truphone with their smartphone or computer.

Remote, used with Airport Express(es) lets you control streaming music from iTunes to sound systems anywhere in your house. You can adjust the volume, change the music, or move the sound from one part of the house to another, all using just the iPhone.

I've also become a devotee of eReader. It's nice when you're stuck somewhere, waiting for whatever, to be able to pull a book out of your pocket.

It's all good, and I'm sure you'll discover your tastes and needs. The only other advice I could pass on is to avoid the "novelty" apps. A lot of them are very clever, and very cool--once. Maybe twice. But I had to admit that turning my iPhone into a Rainstick kind of got old fast. Not to mention the cow tossing and the bubble-wrap popper, and I am rapidly embarrassing myself....

FaceBook
TonePad is a cool way to pass the time
Tap Tap Revenge 2

Is all i use regularly

orblive....access all your media(music, videos, docs) from your computer and even watch live TV(requires TV tuner).

beejive-- itz the best IM app

is this app worth the 9.99?

I only need it for yahoo, right now i have yahoo messenger app but it doesnt have push, I dont wanna get beejive, then a week later have the free yahoo app with a new update that has push

does anyone know if the free yahoo messenger app will have push anytime soon?

Facebook
MLB At Bat (gotta keep track of my Phillies!!)
Sportacular (best free sports score app)
iheartradio (any Clear Channel station you can listen to)
The Weather Channel
Fandango
Pocket Tanks (my favorite game!!)

The best Movie app is Now Playing

Showtimes, can sort by theater or title, rotten tomatoes ratings, and you can browse/add to your netflix que.
