I’ve been a pro max guy for years. Mostly due to battery and size. That said, I’ve always been torn on the bulk (bulky to walk around in pocket with). Wondering if anyone else has moved to the Pro this year. And how does it compare with the 16 pro max in terms of battery?

I could never go down in size. I'm not bothered by it in my pocket though. My wife always gets the pro. It seems tiny to me.

I did. I got tired of holding a goddamn brick. I went from a 15 Pro Max to a 17 Pro. ZERO regrets. The battery is slightly better than the 15 Pro Max was at its best. Which makes sense, 100~ mah difference in battery.

The 17 pro has solid battery life. I typically plug in during the day out of habit though.

It outlasted the 16 PM in this guy's test:

Long time lurker, first time poster. Since upgrading last week I’ve searched for similar threads asking the same question.

I made the same move, Pro Max 14 to 17 Pro. I’ve had the 17P a week and at times still unsure if I made the right decision. I feel like I did but that bigger display keeps trying to pull me back.

I like everything about the 17 Pro: weight, overall size, ability to use the phone with one hand, doesn’t weigh my pants down, comfortable to hold, and battery life is on par or better than my 14 PM which was never a concern. I can charge any time during the day. I dropped my 14PM all the time. Not a single drop so far with the 17P.

The only thing I question is am I missing out on the bigger display knowing that I’m going to run into the same complaints as my 14PM. It’s heavier, needs two hands to use, back pocket only to carry, and all the other things that made me switch to the 17P. If the 17P was 6.5” it would be perfect for me.

The only thing I can offer to help is look at them in person and/or try it and exchange if you’re not happy. It’s an adjustment for sure and only by living with it for a few days will you know.

I can't really give you some advice but I've been a very long time Max user. This year I wanted something else. I don't know. Zeo complaints about the 16PM but yeah, feeling,..... Was set on the 17pro. The last moment I ordered the Air. Day after got regrets and orders the 17pro. Sent the Air back, never openend the box from the shipment. So delivery date 09/26 to 10/6. Wanted the best camera's. But I have the cases for the 17Pro already here and feeling the different size isn't bad. Don't think I'm gonna regret. It's just a bigger screen but if you like that I would order the PM.

Thank you for the insights. I came from a 16PM, went air. Didn't like the tradeoffs so went with 17PM. But for reasons above I decided to go with 17 Pro. I am really liking it. The size is much more portable and I have other options for the couch tablet sort of situation. Thanks again.

Went from the 15PM to 17 pro. The first day was a bit of a shock. The pro felt like a toy compared to the PM but I’m now used to it and have 0 regrets. Much more comfortable to hold and I also prefer how nice and compact it looks and feels

I did it in January 16 max to 16 pro. Also had 15 max before that. Wouldn't go max again.

I could never go down in screen size. These phones aren’t heavy so that shouldn’t be a factor.

If you think a smaller screen would fit your needs, go for it. If not, stay with the PM.

I’ve been considering returning my 17 PM for a Pro. I am coming from a 14 PM and it’s 6.7” screen. Before that I had a Note 20 Ulta with a 6.9” screen and I always thought that I missed that size. But now I am wondering if I’d like a smaller phone. Before the Note 20 Ultra, I had a Note 8 and that had a 6.3” screen.

Either that or I might just go back to the 14 PM. The main reason I got the 17 PM was for the better camera zoom but I don’t know if the increased zoom justifies the price.

The only issue I foresee is that I have crap up close vision and 20/20 distance vision so I rarely have my glasses with me when I’m out. The decrease in screen size might make it more difficult to see my phone.

Went down to Apple Store earlier today, checked out the size and feel of the 17 Pro Max vs my 13PM. Picked up the 17PM and had to check if it was the 17Pro, it felt so good in the hand. Will be talking to VZ Business, if I upgrade, it will be the 17Pro Max all the way!

I’ve been on the Pro Max since 13, only because of the battery being able to last me through the day. The 12 Pro left me stinging due to the abysmal battery life.

I’m very happy to be back with the 17 Pro and can report that the battery life is amazing, definitely better than my 15PM. The ability to be able to handle the device easily with one hand and having the exact same specs to in almost every other department compared to 17PM is great.

The one big issue I have going with the smaller pro is the typing. I feel the smaller pro isn’t roomy enough for my thumbs. I like the bigger keyboard. Anyone else run into this compromise and adjusted well to it?

For those that have used the Pro and Pro Max, can you set the text size the same on both? Obviously you’ll get less text on screen with the smaller Pro but if it’s the same size then it should be just as easy to see for those of us with less than great near vision?

I moved from the 14 Pro Max to 16 Pro last year and no regrets.

Had the 11PM, 12PM, 13PM, 14PM before. Then I tried the 15 Pro, which may have been just slightly too small. I waited for the 16 Pro which has just been the perfect size the past year. Even the Air feels too big now.

I haven't run into it. I adjusted pretty quickly to the typing and don't feel like I make any more mistakes than I did on my 14PM. 20 minutes after finishing the setup I was sending Teams and text messages just as well as I did before the upgrade.

I was looking at the 17PM in the Verizon store yesterday and to my eyes the keyboard size was very similar between the two models. It looked like the keyboard was just as tall on both phones and a tad bit more key spacing on the Pro Max compared to the Pro.

I have the same, "This feels like a toy" feeling using the 17 Pro. It's hard to shake the feeling that it isn't a less capable device just because it isn't the Pro Max.

I’ve always been a Pro guy with the 7,X,XS,12P,15P. Trying the Air and the 17PM.

For me the Air is a lot like the Pro where I’ll have to top off during the day. Probably keeping the 17PM since it’s my first big phone since the 5S.

I was one of those people who said and was completly sure that I wasn't going to go to a smaller screen.

I went from the Xiaomi Mi Max 1 (6,44" at 16:9 aspect ratio) to the Mi Max 3 (6.9" at 18:9 aspect ratio). For there, I jumped to 13 Pro Max (6,7" at 19,5:9 aspect ratio). At very first, it was a clear downgrade in size. Shortly after... I didn't even remember my old Xiaomi...

Now I have the Air (6,55" vs 6,68" 13PM) and I wouldn't carry a phone like the 17PM in my pocket even if I got paid for it. I'm not at that point anymore.

But it is very appreciated that everyone has something that fits them.
