Safari locks up and takes the whole system with it.

Photochop™ displays spinning beachballs and progress bars.

System sounds play through built-in speaker and the rest of the lot through the Soundsticks.

Repaired permissions, ran all periodic scripts, optimized volume, ran hardware disc (no problems). Still the same issues.

Any ideas before I take on the day-long task of rebuilding my system?

Have you tried restarting?
Just kidding!

You zapped the pram, etc?

Yeah, I'd probably start over... couldn't hurt, just is a pain.
Less so if you have a firewire drive to copy off to though.

Good luck.

Yeah did the whole lot. Pissing me off.

Blargh.

Is it across all accounts? If not, could you just transfer all your settings to another account? Although, a complete reinstall would probably be just as easy/hard.
