I am thinking of purchasing a MacBook Air so that I have a small laptop to take on when we go on vacation. I have been reading here in the forums that the Air may be upgraded but I am not to concerned with that. What I was wondering is the price difference between the i5 and i7 processor worth it?

It really depends on what you will be doing with the Macbook.

I have an i5 Air that I travel with and I use it for emails, surfing, listening to music, and watching movies. No problems at all.

It will be used much like you are using it with the addition of downloading and editing some pictures while on vacation.

Light photo-editing should be fine.

I recommend getting an air with 8 GB of ram. I think the storage starts at 128 GB which may be fine in the short-term but 256 would be a better starting point.

Thanks, I have seen the 128 GB for 799 and the 256 for 999. To get the 2.2 GHz with 256 GB would be 1199.
Probably will go with the 256 GB for 999.

I'm not sure where you are located but keep an eye out for a refurbished air from apple. Their refurbished units look new and carry the same warranty as a new unit.

Are these refurbs from Apple? I am in the US

Check out the refurbished section on Apple.com. you order online and you can pick up in store.
Thanks, I checked out the refurb section and they only have two listed a 128 GB and a 256 GB and the newer ones are actually cheaper from some vendors.
