So if you were to live in a 4 bedroom apartment (dorm) at $2308 per semester you would be paying $9232 a year or $1154 a month as in 8 months of school?

It depends. Living off campus rent is based on 12 months per year.
Dorms you pay for 9 months if not staying for summer school. I moved off campus after living on for 3 years. It cost about the same but I had more space and I generally ate better food.

dorm is cheaper, I'd go with that. Plus you get to further enjoy the whole college experience that way.

First year go for dorm, then move out for the subsequent years. Living on campus makes the whole first year thing a lot more accessible, and most things such as cleaning and bills will be taken care of.
