Yeah, check out Blender.

blender works well for me a little complicated but you can always look for tuts online

Blender highly recommended. Awesome piece of software that's well worth the learning curve.

Google Sketchup is also another alternative; no way as fully featured as Blender, but good to get started with.

The OSX beta is coming on very well and I'm actually using it full time…
It is just the transition to Maxwell for rendering that I have to use VMwareFusion for.

dud rhino is great and pretty simple (compared to blender) but when its done with beta its going to cost an arm an a leg
