Hello,
this may seem random but i figure someone may have come across what I want if it even exists.
I have a thunderbolt 3 external SSD it works great on my actual thunderbolt3 Macs and PC's it only kind of works with my retina MacBook Pro 2015 via Apple's Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.
the reason I say it kind of works is it won't work directly plugged into the MacBook Pro, but i does if either it's connected though a Thunderbolt 2 dock using the same Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter, or my current preferred method, daisy chaining it through my eGPU's which itself is connected to the mac via the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.
my only assumption based on these findings is it draws more power than is provided via thunderbolt when using a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter alone.
long story short I want a adapter that either also passes (or could be fed power) or even a really small powered thunderbolt hub or something.
I still deal with a a lot of older macs and would prefer not to have to lug around a egpu if im ever wanting to do a fast xfer on the go.
thanks
