I'm sure this is asked often but I have a 2009 Macbook Pro and am considering getting an external monitor (between 21 and 24 inches) for the laptop.

I initially considered selling my current MBP then getting a new iMac and buying an old Macbook just for portable use but realize I use my laptop on the go a lot more than I'd use a desktop. But I still wouldn't mind having a big monitor for home use/gaming.

I've seen a few Samsung and ASUS monitors on NewEgg. Any thoughts?

Note - While Apple Cinema displays are awesome I can't justify that much money for a monitor.

Since I was going to post almost the same thing, I'll just jump on and say 'me too.'

I'm looking for a display for a MacBook Air (and for the new MacBook Pro that hopefully comes out soon). What I really want, though, is a display that will plug into the mini display port so I don't have to get an adapter.

Go with the Ultrasharp line from Dell. Uses an IPS panel and the picture is really good. The 24" I believe has a 16:10 aspect ratio whereas the 23" 16:9 aspect ratio.
