I've been using this monitor for a few years now, and I love the size and how it allows me to handle multiple windows, etc. from a single monitor.

However, the overall brightness and contrast of the display is poor. Especially with lights on and windows open, it feels very outdated.

Does anyone have experience with a monitor of similar size and resolution that isn't held back by the brightness issue?

One of my friends has a similar issue with his monitor but found that upgrading to an IPS panel helped. Look for options with higher brightness ratings (around 300 nits or more) and good contrast. The Dell UltraSharp U2720Q or LG UltraFine 27UN850 are great choices with excellent brightness and colour accuracy, especially in well-lit rooms.
