Looking for a good, cheap, monitor for photos and gaming?

Hi, I'll be getting a MBP soon, and I wanted to get a good external monitor for editing photos. But I also wanted one with HDMI input for my PS3/360. I'm used to my 24" iMac's screen, so anything as clear as that would be great! But I only have about $300-$400 to spend.

After some quick browsing, the Samsung XL2370 or P2370HD look pretty good, but I don't know much about monitors.
