Home Looking for a good Wi-Fi sprinkler controller...

(Also, MR could use a "Smart Home" Forum?)

I currently have a a run-of-the mill Rain Bird unit with a dial control and LED display that does not know wifi exists. But I'm dreaming of a day when I can say "Alexa, water zones 1 and 2" and watch my backyard being magically watered while I get fat and dumb from the comfort of my couch.

Anyone recommend a good unit?

We do have a Home Technology section, and I have moved your post there to hopefully get some attention.

I have a Rachio wifi controlled sprinkler and it works great. They have a great support forum also.

You just configure with your zip code for climate/weather info and tell it what kind of sprinklers and all you have, and the rest is automatic. It also works with Alexa.

Anyway, I've seen Rachio on Amazon but don't know anything about the brand. Will add to top of list.

I have the first gen and the one you linked is the second gen. I noticed they now have a third gen, but I have not taken the time to research the difference.

I have had my first gen since February 2015 and never had any trouble with it.
