I have a 17" MacBook Pro (non-unibody) and I am looking for a good hard case for it. Not something that stays on it, but like a sleeve type thing that will protect the laptop while it's in my bag. It needs to provide protection from dents and would be great if it was padded. However, it cannot add too much bulk (some is OK) so it will still fit in my bag. Any suggestions?

I use the Booq Vyper for the 15". Not sure if they make one for the 17" but if they do it's a great compromise between a soft case and a hard shell case. It is lightly padded but with a rigid exterior and will definitely protect your mac if you plan to just throw it in your bag. It fits like a glove too!
