Need one of these longer than the standard Apple length. Surprisingly it looks like most of what's available on Ebay and Amazon is also short.

Anyone?

In the meantime, why not just get an extension cable?

What sort of extension cable do you mean?

I have a 30 pin extension cable that this is hooked to, but it means that I have two bulky 30 pin connectors in the middle of the cable, rather than having that part tucked out of the way.

It doesn't exist, just get a lightning extension cable when they start making them. Also don't buy the eBay lightning to 30 pin adapters or any non-apple ones. The lightning to 30 pin adapter is a very complex piece of technology that essentially acts as a secondary logic board for the phone. All that the eBay lightning to 30 pin adapters will do is charge your phone.

Ok, good to know. I do have the official Apple one, but like I say, I'd like to do away with the bulk.

It does exist, I have one; a cable with a 30 pin male on one end and female on the other.

However I realise that's not what the OP wants, hence "in the meantime" but it's a work around for now. He really wants a lightning extension, and so do I (preferably black). That does not not seem exist and it's very annoying, I would really like to tuck the clunky adaptor out of the way too.

That's what I have at the moment, but yes, it is bulky.

This is what I'm trying to slim down:

That's a 30 pin car connection to firewire to usb converter, to 30 pin extension cable, to lightning adapter cable. With a longer lightning adapter I could get rid of that 30 pin extension and not have the two 30 pin connectors hanging right below the phone.

Open to other ideas as well.

Update.

Found a couple of good options from Cablejive. http://www.cablejive.com/

Ordered one of both to try -

Dockboss+ for iPhone 5 -

which might allow me to plug in a regular Apple lightning cable (not keeping it if I have to use the headphone jack).

and also a Dockboss Air

Which would allow wireless audio connection and just use a regular charger as necessary.

I'll update when I get them.

If the bulkiness of the 30 pin connector is bothering you, have you considered a usb-micro usb cable with the micro usb-lightning adapter? I have a kindle charging cord and use the micro to lightning adapter on that. The kindle cord is around 4.5-5' long.

It's not the 30pin connector alone, it's that in the current setup, I have the equivalent of two 30pin connectors hanging just 6 inches below the phone.

Again, the USB lighting adapter doesn't help because I have nothing to plug it in to on the other end.

Sorry to bump..

But I was wondering if there was ever a solution? Looking to extend my iPod adapter that I have my lightning to 30-pin connector to as of right now and its too short. Saw this on Google and was wondering if you guys had any ideas?

Even if, I do not mind bulky at this point.

Thanks.

Apple really put the screws to a lot of people when they switched to the lightning connector. No real reason for it either. Pisses me off.

I have have used apple products with the old 30pin connector since the first iPod. The lightning connector was like a breath of fresh air, I'm so glad they changed it. I had to buy an adaptor and new car dock, but it was well worth it. Hated the 30pin, would have preferred mini USB, but the lightning is better than both.
