Looking for a quieter keyboard

I have a 2017 Macbook Pro and the loudness of the keyboard drives me nuts. What on Earth were they thinking?! Writing is essential to everything I do, and it sounds like I am angry or something, just because the keyboard is so freaking loud. I am going to buy an external USB-C keyboard for extended writing sessions. I was wondering if anybody has recommendations. For example, I really like the keyboard on my Mid-2014 Macbook Pro - typing on it is a dream. Typing rapidly on it makes nothing but a gentle swishing/whispering sound. In contrast the 2017 MBP is like somebody chopping celery.
