The matte screen protectors I have bought in the past have all made the screen quality too grainy. I don't care about the anti-glare properties of a screen protector; I just need one with a "matte"-feel (I need to have a smooth screen for gaming) and minimal graininess. Any recommendations? I have an iphone 8 plus

I've tried many over the years and haven't found one that isn't grainy. It's just a side effect from the process to give it a matte texture.
Why would you ruin the clarity of a smartphone when their screens are bright enough to negate the need for an anti-glare protector?
Invest in a Belkin TempuredCurve, which does a great job at preventing finger prints & is smoother than the actual iPhone screen, & game away.
