Looking for a "Simple" Retouch/resize photo App.

Hi there I'm looking for a simple Photo retouch/ resize "free" app for my Girlfriend.
Who keeps sending me 10MB photos straight from her camera... she has Photoshop but its too complicated for her. I just need an App like "Color it" or Graphic Converter... which I had on my old Pismo running Panther... But now I see you have to pay for 'em.... I remember I could reduce the size from 3MB to about 300K and the quality wouldn't suffer too much...on a laptop screen anyway... I think her OS is Snow leopard.
Any Idea's would be welcome.

Start with Preview. No local adjustments, but it does resizing etc, plus has decent controls for colour, saturation, sharpness, etc.

After that look at iPhoto. I think it now has some local adjustments.
