I use a USB-C mechanical keyboard on both my desktop PC, and my M1 MBA, which I use in clamshell mode. At the moment, I'm physically swapped the USB-C cable when I switch machines to use the keyboard - no big deal, but I figured a USB switch would make life easier.

I just received a KCEVE USB 3.0 switch - two USB-A inputs, one USB-A output, but it doesn't work with the M1 MBA no matter what kind of cable I used - no power indicator light on the box to show which USB is selected, no keyboard.

With my PC, it works fine. It's like there is not enough power output from the M1's USB-C port?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good USB switcher? I'm not looking to spend £250 on a full kvm switch, I was just looking for a little switch like this one (that doesn't work).

I’d use a Bluetooth keyboard that can connect to and switch between multiple devices, but that doesn’t help you much.

Yeah, must admit, I am tempted! I do have a new Magic Keyboard - can this connect to a PC as well as a Mac? Or does switching bluetooth require a keyboard with an actual switch? I'm new to this!

Most people that do this buy a muti-device wireless keyboard like Logitech K780. You can switch between devices by simply pressing a button on the keyboard.

If you want to be fancier, your keyboard and mouse can control both computers at the same time. Buy a Logitech Flow mouse like MX Master and all you have to do is move your cursor to the edge of the screen to control the other computer.

Thanks for the info!

I'm a fan of mechanical keyboards, and it looks like the Keychron K8 will do this? BT, Mac and PC compatible, can switch between three devices?
