I'm looking for a very simple MIDI recorder, even simpler then Garage Band. I have two uses in mind:
(1) I just want to see what I played mainly for looking at mistakes. I want to see notes not piano roll. GB can do this but not well because if you don't play along with the metronome clicks it gets confused and I want to play with tempo not controlled by computer. I'd like to be able to tell the notation software what the tempo is after the recording is made.
(2) my keyboard is midi, not usb and uses midi to dump/restore the setup parameters and internal memory. I'd like a midi recorder that could simply write midi to a file and play files back. GB really is not intended for this purpose
Logic express looks good for other things. Can it do the above? I'd prefer to use one package for everything rather then a collection of smaller utilities.
