Hi all,

I'm new to Macs and I have just bought my first MacBook Pro (13" 2012 i7). I've started working with iStopMotion 3 and have been using my iPhone 5 as a remote camera which works very well but is a bit limited (no zoom, etc). So I've been thinking of picking up a DSLR or a camcorder that can live-stream video into iStopMotion but i cant seem to get any firm information on which cameras/camcorders will work.

I see that older camcorders that had firewire connections could be hooked directly in to the Mac and be recognized as by a video source (would need an adaptor for Thunderbolt) but nothing newer. The info on DSLR cameras is even more sketchy.. some people claim they work but you need a video capture device in order to use them.

Can anyone here offer any advice on a DSLR or a camcorder that will work? What I really need is something that will provide me a live video feed that I can use with the onion-skin function of iStopMotion 3.

Thanks in advance for any help :)
